About Voxel Hounds
Voxel Hounds is a free multiplayer mech combat game that runs in your web browser. You design your own war machine, a HOUND, block by block, then take it into three-way battles between rival nations.
The idea
Most mech games hand you a machine and a few upgrade slots. Voxel Hounds lets you build the machine itself. Every HOUND is assembled from individual parts that snap together at contact points: structural frames, armor plates, weapons, radar domes and the cockpit. Where you put each part matters. Armor only protects the face it points toward. Parts that lose their connection to the chassis fall off. And the cockpit, the one part you can't lose, can go anywhere you like, buried deep in the hull or perched up high for a better view.
That turns every battle into a contest of design as much as aim. Damage is tracked for every single part, so you can shoot the guns off an enemy, cut away the frame holding their cockpit, or punch straight through to the cockpit itself.
Three nations, one battlefield
Every battle is a fight between three squads from three rival nations, three HOUNDs each: the Republic of Vestra (blue), a seafaring federation whose engineers favor fast, well-armored designs; the Korvan Dominion (red), an industrial power known for heavy guns; and the Solmark Union (green), hardy northerners who prize endurance and long-range fire. The nations, their flags and their history are all fictional. Three-way battles play differently from the usual two-team shooter: alliances of convenience form and break, and the squad that picks its moment often beats the squad that fights hardest. Four comm towers decide who can see the battlefield: a nation holding two or more links its comm network and sees every enemy on radar, so control of the map is control of information.
What you can do
- Build: a full garage editor with three chassis (legs, tracks and wheels), three cockpits, four weapon types, armor and radar, plus templates, saved designs and undo.
- Fight: casual battles that start fast, with AI pilots filling empty slots, and a ranked mode with tiers from Iron to Grandmaster.
- Progress: pilot levels, prestige ranks, season badges and kill and tenure badges.
- Play together: friends lists, parties of up to three on the same team, and in-battle chat with a language filter.
- Play anywhere: on a computer with keyboard and mouse, or on a phone or tablet with touch controls, each matched with players on the same kind of device.
Fair play
Battles are run by our server, which checks every movement and shot against what a HOUND can really do, so speed hacks, wallhacks and infinite ammo don't work. Players can report abuse and cheating from the chat or the results screen, and we review reports by hand.
Everything you can buy is cosmetic or a convenience (paint skins, a supporter badge, a callsign change). Nothing for sale makes a HOUND stronger, and every gameplay part is free for everyone.
Who makes it
Voxel Hounds is an independent game, a fan-made love letter to the squad-based mech games of the 2000s, rebuilt for the browser with voxel graphics. It is funded by optional supporter memberships, cosmetic purchases and advertising on the main menu. Ads never appear during battles.
We read every piece of feedback. Signed-in players can use Leave feedback on the main menu, or you can reach us through the contact page. To see what's changed recently, read the updates.
