Privacy Policy
Effective October 20, 2026
This policy explains what information Voxel Hounds ("we", "us") collects when you visit voxhounds.io or play the game, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
If you play as a guest
You can play without an account. Your browser stores a random pilot ID, your callsign, your saved HOUND designs and a few settings in its local storage, so your progress is still there next time. We keep the matching progress record (level, experience, battles, wins, kills and earned credits) on our server. None of this identifies you personally.
If you create an account
- Username, callsign and email address. Your email is used only to confirm it's you, to let you reset a forgotten password, and to deliver purchases. We don't send marketing email.
- Password. Stored only as a salted, one-way scrypt hash. We never see or store your actual password.
- Game data: progress, ranked rating, friends list, owned skins, credits, supporter status and purchase records.
Information collected automatically
- IP address, used briefly to protect the game: limiting sign-in attempts, stopping connection floods and preventing abuse. It is not used for advertising by us.
- Device type (phone/tablet or computer), so touch players are matched with other touch players.
- In-game chat and reports you send or receive. Chat is filtered for offensive language; reported messages and the surrounding conversation are kept so we can review abuse and cheating reports.
- Feedback you choose to send us.
- Standard server logs (time of connection, errors) used to keep the service running.
Advertising and cookies
Voxel Hounds is free to play and is supported partly by advertising from Google AdSense, shown on the main menu (never during battles).
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads are shown, through Google's consent message. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of the home page and the guide pages. This privacy policy page itself loads no ads, no consent scripts and nothing from third parties.
The game itself does not use cookies for tracking. It uses your browser's local storage only for the things listed above (pilot ID, sign-in session, settings and saved designs). You can clear these at any time in your browser settings, which signs you out and resets guest progress on that device.
Payments
Optional purchases (supporter memberships, premium skins, credit packs and callsign changes) are processed by Stripe. Donations go through PayPal. Your card or bank details go directly to them; we never see or store them. We receive a confirmation of what was bought, the amount, and the email and account it belongs to, so we can deliver the item and handle refunds.
How we use information
- To run the game: matchmaking, battles, progress, rankings, friends and parties.
- To keep accounts secure and recover them.
- To deliver purchases and manage memberships.
- To prevent cheating, abuse and attacks, and to act on player reports.
- To show advertising on the menu, as described above.
- To fix bugs and improve the game, using feedback and error logs.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who can see your information
Other players see your callsign, badges, rank, supporter badge and your in-game actions. Your friends see whether you are online, searching or in a battle. Your username, email address and purchase history are never shown to other players. We share information only with the service providers who run parts of the game for us (our hosting provider, Stripe, PayPal, our email delivery service and Google AdSense), or when required by law.
How long we keep it
Account and progress data is kept while your account exists. Chat logs exist only for the length of a battle unless a message is reported; reports and feedback are kept until they have been reviewed and are no longer needed for moderation. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Backups are kept for 14 days.
Your choices and rights
- You can change your email or password in the game, and stop using your account at any time.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and its data by emailing support@voxhounds.io from the address on your account. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have further rights, which we will honor.
- You can manage ad personalization as described under Advertising and cookies.
Children
Voxel Hounds is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. Passwords and sign-in tokens are stored as hashes, and access to our server and data is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will let signed-in players know in the game.
